You're moving quickly. Where are you at with the donor vehicle?

I’m using 2 Donor cars to build the 89..
The reason is; (for those who may not know or could be interested) here in Australia we have limited options with ‘Full Chassis’ cars like your, Chevy Caprice, Impala’s or Corvette’s etc. Unfortunately, all early American vehicles, particularly Muscle Cars are now worth big $$!.

With my crazy idea of building this type of vehicle for the road, it’s much more feasible and cost effective to use an Australian Production Vehicle particularly for Legal and Compliance reasons.

With that in mind; for the Chassis and Steering etc. I’m using an Australian factory..
HQ/WB Holden, 1 Ton, V8 work Ute (Pickup).

For the Engine, Wiring Harness, Computer, Gearbox etc. I use an Australian Factory..
2006 VY Holden Calais (Commodore), with factory LS1 Chevy 5.0L V8, Auto.

Factory HQ/WB Utes run very similar and in some cases, identical running gear, to your early full chassis Chevy’s, El Camino and Chevelle’s. The Holden factory commonly run Australian production V8 Engines (4.2L or 5.0L) also Chevy V8’s, TH400, TH750 Auto’s etc.

Australian factory Commodore’s are commonly fitted with USA Chevy LS , SB & BB V8’s
Some Australian Commodores were imported to USA , relabeled as a GM Pontiac G8.

I’ll post up some pictures of the Donor vehicles, will give you an idea of the Donor cars I have used. ....
