To be honest Mr A I thought the Hot Toys one would be the dogs bollocks ( considering who it was from) but when I was in Hong Kong I saw one and wasnt overly immpressed. One glaringly obvious thing about it I dont like was the fact that they had just left a black plastic finish.

Here's the update to the afterburner.
The first picture shows the middle piece I turned on the lathe with MDF fins added..
In this picture you can see all the componants.
The finished afterburner detail waiting for the nozzle to be fitted.

Loving the progress shots - you have skills Glad you went with the shorter cone
Yep the HT has many flaws in my opinion, including the (lack of ) paint job. The nose and rear lights are my biggest problem considering the price. They could have so easily worked them to be much more accurate, especially when you look at the job they did on the side-mechanics. Makes me wonder what they used as a reference for the car. Then of course there is the lack of wider rear fenders, mould lines showing through, lack of rubber tyres, etc.
I believe your finished model will represent the real car much better than the HT 1/6th. Almost makes me want to source a studio kit, however I think I will still go with modding my HT when the time comes.

When I'm browsing around the pages I keep getting this
" You don't have enough privileges to view this forum. You can earn your privileges by posting in public forum "
Can someone tell me if I should be seeing this and ( apart from the obvious statement,) why is this in place.

I've done some work on the side mechanics.
Tim's great 3d files were downloaded and I managed to shrink them down to the required size.
Here's the first one I was going to try.
Anyway my 3d printer and I are not best mates yet so this is what it gave me back.
So I thought I might as well build them myself. I put some nylon/acrylic-y type rod into my lathe and added some parts I fabricated and came up with these.
