Finally back from my summer exile and ready to get back to work. The donor car is at THEMAN's shop and progressing, so my job is to get the outer skin ready. The last form I made turned out to be way too large, so now it has to be redone. That's not all bad because I can redo some of the things I wish I had done differently on the first form and it gives us an opportunity to fit it to a specific donor car. Both THEMAN and I will be using C5 or C6 Corvettes for the donors. You can see the donor car progress at

So I got back home on Wednesday and have been doing some work around the house, but I also managed to get the front section of the new body milled. I used a different slicing technique this time to give a much better definition to the front wheel flairs.

I will have to let THEMAN say what he can get done in that time, but I hope to have the main body milled and at least part of it made into molds. Once the molds are made the production of the body parts is fairly easy.

Wow!

Looks like you've gotten very efficient at milling!

Hopefully the rescale won't set you back too much!

Thanks. I have the passengers side for the next layer done and it looks great imo. Should have the drivers side done by this weekend so I’ll post pictures when completed.

The next section back is complete. Had to do the drivers side twice because of operator error. Need a little sanding between the halves to make them match up tighter.

I'm quite happy with the new slicing technique on the wheel flairs. This will save some fabrication later on. The yellow stuff is spray foam insulation I'm using as an adhesive and support material. It works well for that but cant really be sanded and is even difficult to cut cleanly.

Here's a shot for a little size perspective. Don't worry, the car's paint was protected.

So you can see that THEMAN's measurements are looking pretty good for this size car body. Remember, the front wheels don't go under the wheel flairs but rather extend out from them. Add the wheel covers and that's going to be quite impressive.

The next section back will include the beginning of the windshield area. I may be a little delayed on this one as I need to take a trip to South Carolina this weekend.

Looking sweet sly! Much more manageable in regular size garage space too.

OK, finally got the next layer back milled.

Batmobile

Had a little trouble with the passenger side because of my choice of how to split it. To get the underside I cut the section into top and bottom halves then flipped the bottom upside down to mill it. Seemed to work right on the computer but didn't quite come out right in real life. So used a different method on the driver side that didn't get the bottom part as well.

This picture of the back shows the difference on the underside. I will have to carve out the driver side by hand later.

Batmobile

Next section back will be the front of the cabin and should include the start of the jet air intakes. Hope to have that done by the end of next week. It will also complete the front clip, which means I could start work on making the mold for that part.
