My goal was to have this California register-ready by year end so I could be at the DMV January 2 to get my paperwork....but every single step on this project is an ass kicker

by connecting a switch straight to the starter, I had the biggest win of the project thus far, which was getting the engine running. It runs rough because not everything is connected with the vacuum lines etc, but sounds beastly, especially with the cat back exhaust...so we grabbed a body harness and connected the ignition, but it just will not start. we have power all the way through to the tail lights and climate control etc, but it just wont start.

After going to multiple junkyards and trying a few things, its still not starting from the ignition....after losing months and avoiding the soul crushing expense of paying someone to fix it all up....I decided to switch gears and deal with it later..we are going to work from the rear of the car and push forward.

The body itself wasnt put together with great care...and there are flaws, particularly with the rear fenders...which was placed in a way that forces the rear end of the fender to be angled to the outside, and the bottom of the fender to not be a straight, horizontal line. most noticeable on the passenger side rear....The wheel well is also an inch smaller than the driver side. we added in some wheel tubs which helped buff out the rear end and made it a lot sturdier

We have been fitting in some bracing to push the lower edges of the body out, and others to push the body inwards, and it really made a difference. I got a space heater I will use for my afterburner, and we have been experimenting with that. All progress pics actively updated on my online photo album

Right now our priority list is:

- Exhaust done (extend exhaust to correct position, make plates, polish up tips, weld it up, black chrome dip)
- put in side walls of trunk, which will also act as an anchor for body bracing and a place to mount supports for trunk lid
- add rear support bar which will act as a bumper and will support after burner
- plate in rest of trunk
- build out weather stripping/gutter for trunk lid and build trunk latch and hinges
- add tail lights
- rear camera
- reverse light
- cut out vents on trunk lid, add mesh grid

NEXT UP
- body mounts
- finish gas tank area; seal it in.
- CANOPY!
- DASH
- IGNITION!
- HOOD
- HEADLIGHTS
- FRONT INTAKE

Looking through your picture montage you've made quite a startling improvement to the body line of this car!

one thing i always wondered, since the batmobile seems to be super compakt in the cockpit, how is it on a tall boy level? how wide is it inside and how tall is it from the bottom to the top? .. im never gonna afford to build one but would be nice to confirm that i wouldnt actually fit in one atleast how people usually build em which i would have my own eyes for the cockpit like lowering the seating position and not moving the engine and trans so far back your feet wont fit

Im 6'3" and 300lbs...so its taken a lot of work to get the cockpit to fit, I had to set the floorpan as low as possible with seats that are set on the floor...leg room is plenty...headroom is fine....the biggest issue is on the shoulder clearance, and the room around your hand by the steering wheel...but my big ass fits in there...so there is that
