I am so glad I found this site. I didnt realize how realizable this dream is of having a true Batmobile...

I am ready to begin on my batmobile project (The Champmobile) and aggressively move it to completion. I am going to check out a '91 caprice next Sunday to see if its the contender...it supposedly runs good just has cosmetic issues.

I havent made any other decisions as Im still doing my research, but it seems like the Gotham Cruiser kits are hard to beat...

I will keep this updated with my progress...

Totally agree its very very viable... and just takes time and effort ... I too am doing research as to feasibility and what's involved -

The kit and donor seem to be the easiest of the project its finding all the bits and bobs gadgets and all the welding to get the kit mounted... seems like the biggest time sucks!

Starting a build SOON! - hopefully!

so today was the first big step towards my Champmobile....I picked up Thomas Wayne (my donor)!....a 1995 Caprice 9c1 police package...nifty 5.7 liters of power...flowmasters...new brakes, water pump, radiator, battery, front bushings, tensioner, plugs, etc....130k on the engine...but I got it for 1k....the transmission needs some work, but I have my mechanic friend on deck so that shouldnt be a big deal. its matte black too, so thats cool....

It has been a lot of learning so far. I have a lot of varied information as to which direction I should go for a kit, and I probably need to get a little more $ together to get one of the higher quality kits, but Im shopping....

Im going to start stripping it down in a couple weeks as I have a busy schedule but I will update with progress

hahahaa thanks guys! I can already feel my crazy meter going up....WAY UP! (like...do I NEED to pay my mortgage? I mean, I can just live in the car!)

I talked with Doug today and he is going to send me specifics tonight, at which point I will start being able to really put my project plan together...

I spent so many hours yesterday going through Matt's build log....GOOD STUFF!!

I plan on doing some video stuff too, but not sure if I will start a blog site...however I noticed a couple people have gotten sponsors for their builds, so maybe its not the worst idea...

I talked to someone I met through this forum who seemed to be pretty informed and said he could possibly get me a high quality kit...but like you said, being that this is an all 'under the table' business, its hard to jump off a cliff with someone I only met over the web, and flying out to meet someone just to feel comfortable about doing business adds to the budget, even though Im not against it; will have to see how the process unfolds..... Doug has an established shop and reputation here, which is very comforting. A few people told me (one being very reputable) that the cruiser kits arent that good...but I felt Doug was honest when I talked to him today about what to expect, and he did say that there will need to be some work on it, as the kit is 17 pieces stitched together...but the body lines are solid.

The kit is so important I would rather wait to spend the big bucks than cut a corner to have it NOW....we will see

Is Wayne Industries still around? I notice they did some killer work on various parts....I would like to have them do some stuff for the Champmobile....having some metal parts would make it feel more like the real deal...

no more Wayne industries sorry ..... doug is a great guy and a straight shooter if any one pushes there kit on you RUN !!!

yes his cruiser kit needs work but not as much as it once did so the updated molds are very good .

truth of the matter no kit you get will be plug and play they will all need work trust me even the Canada guys

good luck in your build and in reality look at this taking years not months its not a bad thing is just to make you realize pay that mortgage

have a blast man
