After hitting the junk yard I found the spindle from the Chevy Blazer and S10 pick ups were pretty slim and hold the same type of bolt on hub with spline in the middle. My goal is to use this set up on the rear as well (mostly the hub) so it will accept a shaft. It should simplfy the axel process. In therory it should feed directly into the hub and then all i need to do is cut it to length and put a sprocket on the other end.  This pic is the front. I was just rambaling about the rear.

Will you have room for the disk and brake caliper? I had to get a smaller disk then originally planned as the caliper would have been hitting the wheel.

It should fit. The pod rim is a 15" and so is the factory wheel from that model car. (S10 and Blazer) i would assume it will all tuck in there just the same. I've already got my tires mounted on the rims. I just need to get the disc and caliper and I will start dry fitting some of the pieces.

So like many on here, one of my first issues was with the wheels. I cant say Ive found anyone who specifically talked about the back spacing of their rims, and probably becasue no two are exactly the same. I initially had a mis understanding of backspacing. I orginally thought it would be the measurement from the front lip of the rim to the plate where the lugs mount. Assuming the further back it was the more "backspacing" you had.....I was wrong...its actually the complete opposite. Here was my first go at a set of rims. They are the D hole pattern with a 4" backspacing. Again thinking the way i did originally. You can see how far out the spindle would have been.

That wheel was returned and my second go around was a different company who offered (at the time) the biggest back spacing of 6". I figured between that and my thinner profile balzer spindle id be better off....wrong again BUT I got super lucky and the rim was damaged in shipping SOOOOOO when I returned it I was able to talk to the tech guys and they told me how to order it with a custom backspacing even though the site did not offer it as a standard option.

So you can see in the second picture how much further it was set down and thats with the big thick corevette spindle. Since this point, I re-ordered the wheels with a 7" back spacing. They told me the biggest they could do was 8" because past that the "bell" of the wheel narrows down and you cant fit the center in there. Its kind of hard to explain, but looking at the inside of the wheel while I was talking to them made more sense to me. Im hoping between the now 7" back space and the smaller spindle things will be ok. Here is the front of the wheel. I got them through speedway motors and they are made by Bassett. They are 15' tall by 14" wide with the "D"hole battern.

So naturally tires were next. Ive seen a few variations and after talking to a local sprint car builder he turned me in the direction I went. A much older post on the forums had the part number of the original wheel which they dont make any more and then had the replacement part number. From that I got the current version which comes in several different sizes and compounds.

The guy I bought them from is 72 years old and runs a one man show race shop out in Tampa. The guy knew everything there was to know about these tires. It was really cool talking to him about all of the different tech that goes into which tires to use for which application etc. After telling him what I was doing I went with his recomendation of the 38146, 92/14/15 RC1 This set up has the same "tt" checkerboard pattern for looks, but this is the hardest of the 3 compounds they offer and it has side wall stiffiners. I'm pretty sure the movie bike had 94's so this is a tiny bit smaller profile, but will be much more ridgid. Personally I cant tell the difference just looking at them.
