I think they use the reverse engine v-drive combo to save in vehicle length and add some strength for the stunts. The dimensions on mine are not exact to the movies as it is being built to be street legal. That alone caused my design to be thined by over a foot. Using a conventional drivetrain approach gives the cab more room and offers a more aesthetic design but forces the vehicle to become longer unless you cram the engine between the seats. This method should also be quieter and allow slightly more power to the wheels.
