I put a copy of this post here because it may be of some value to some designing or building a Bat Vehicle.
Here is the most effective Builders Block buster of all time.
The Eureka Effect in Relation to Bat Vehicle Planning and Building
Can sometimes be created and always encouraged to occur!
“An elicitation of understanding, a truly transparent and obvious
knowing that is rarely wrong, almost always accompanied by adrenaline,
exhilaration, and intense insight.”  vertigo
Part One: Essential Knowledge:
Wikipedia
“The eureka effect (also known as the aha! moment or eureka moment)
refers to the common human experience of suddenly understanding a
previously incomprehensible problem or concept.

Some research describes the aha! effect (also known as insight or
epiphany) as a memory advantage, but conflicting results exist as to
where exactly it occurs in the brain, and it is difficult to predict
under what circumstances one can predict an Aha! moment.

Insight is a psychological term that attempts to describe the process
in problem solving when a previously unsolvable puzzle becomes
suddenly clear and obvious. Often this transition from not
understanding to spontaneous comprehension is accompanied by an
exclamation of joy or satisfaction, an Aha! Moment.  A person
utilizing insight to solve a problem is able to give accurate,
discrete, all-or-nothing type responses, whereas individuals not using
the insight process are more likely to produce partial, incomplete
responses.

A recent theoretical account of the Aha! Moment started with four
defining attributes of this experience. First, the Aha! Moment appears
suddenly; second, the solution to a problem can be processed smoothly,
or fluently; third, the Aha! Moment elicits positive affect; fourth, a
person experiencing the Aha! Moment is convinced that a solution is
true. These four attributes are not separate but can be combined
because the experience of processing fluency, especially when it
occurs surprisingly (for example, because it is sudden), elicits both
positive affect and judged truth.

Insight can be conceptualized as a two phase process. The first phase
of an Aha! Experience requires the problem solver to come upon an
impasse, where they become stuck and even though they may seemingly
have explored all the possibilities, are still unable to retrieve or
generate a solution. The second phase occurs suddenly and
unexpectedly. After a break in mental fixation or re-evaluating the
problem, the answer is retrieved. Some research suggests that insight
problems are difficult to solve because of our mental fixation on the
inappropriate aspects of the problem content. In order to solve
insight problems, one must "think outside the box". It is this
elaborate rehearsal that may cause people to have better memory for
Aha! Moments. Insight is believed to occur with a break in mental
fixation, allowing the solution to appear transparent and obvious.”

Part Two: Essential Knowledge:
Wikipedia
“The Eureka effect was first described by Pamela Auble, Jeffrey Franks
and Salvatore Soraci in 1979.
How people solve insight problems.
Currently there are two theories for how people arrive at the solution
for insight problems. The first is the progress monitoring theory. The
person will analyze the distance from their current state to the goal
state. Once a person realizes that they cannot solve the problem while
on their current path, they will seek alternative solutions.

The second way that people attempt to solve problems is the
representational change theory. The problem solver initially has a low
probability for success because they use inappropriate knowledge as
they set unnecessary constraints on the problem. Once the person
relaxes his or her constraints, they can bring previously unavailable
knowledge into working memory to solve the problem. The person also
utilizes chunk decomposition, where he or she will separate meaningful
chunks into their component pieces. Both constraint relaxation and
chunk decomposition allow for a change in representation, that is, a
change in the distribution of activation across working memory, at
which point they may exclaim "aha!". Currently both theories have
support, with the progress monitoring theory being more suited to
multiple step problems, and the representational change theory more
suited to single step problems.”

I put a copy of this post here because it may be of use to someone who is building or planning to build a Bat Vehicle.
Used my Milwaukee metal cutting circular saw to cut the main Tumbler arm shock mounts from 1/2" thick sheet steel. It took 5-minutes to cut them both. This is an amazing tool with many practical applications to Bat Vehicle building, especially the Tumbler and S v V DOJ Batmobile. vertigo

Part Three: Essential Knowledge and Relevant Observations
Wikipedia
The Eureka effect on memory occurs only when there is an initial confusion.
Memory
It had been determined that recall is greater for items that were
generated by the subject versus if the subject was presented with the
stimuli.
Sleep
Some unconscious processing may take place while a person is asleep,
and there are several cases of scientific discoveries coming to people
in their dreams. Studies have shown increased performance at insight
problems if the subjects slept during a break between receiving the
problem and solving it. Sleep may function to restructure problems,
and allow new insights to be reached.
Ohlsson Theory
At the beginning of the problem-solving process, some salient features
of the problem are probably incorporated into a mental representation
of the problem. In the first step of solving the problem, it is
considered in the light of previous experience. Eventually, an impasse
is reached, where all approaches to the problem have failed, and the
person becomes frustrated. Ohlsson believes that this impasse drives
unconscious processes which change the mental representation of a
problem, and cause novel solutions to occur.
Problems with insight
No one has yet been able to catalyze the Eureka Moment occurrence
(create on demand) or design triggers to specifically initiate the
experience.
For many problems, this difficulty appears to revolve around the
requisite restructuring or re-conceptualization of the problem or
possible solutions.

Part Four: My Personal Experience with the Eureka Effect from Building
my Batman Tumbler
“I experienced a few small Eureka Effects, more like small
revelations, as I proceeded along in my research and building of the
Batman Tumbler. I did not experience a major Eureka Effect as I have
described it, until I had over 2000 hours of research and essential
skills development, along with around another thousand physical build
hours.
“An elicitation of understanding, a truly transparent and obvious
knowing that I was absolutely sure of, accompanied by adrenaline,
exhilaration, and intense insight.”
Translated into the physical build world of my Tumbler it means I am
left, after awareness of the initial realization, with a sense of
knowing. Knowing the related Tumbler concepts, essential building
skills, components, inter-relational aspects, and order of proceeding.
One might also describe it as a complete grasp of the eclectic
inter-relationship internalized.

Rule: The more complex your Bat Vehicle concepts and skills involved
deficiencies, the more time will be required for you to gain the sense
of knowing. Knowing your Bat Vehicle related concepts, essential
building skills, components, inter-relational aspects, and order of
proceeding.
Even with a lot of time invested, it may not be enough to achieve the
Eureka Effect, as it relates to your Bat Vehicle build. However, the
time invested will certainly increase your odds. Even if you don’t
experience the Eureka Effect, enough time spent, will get you close
enough in the understanding of your Bat Vehicle concepts, essential
building skills, components, inter-relational aspects, and order of
proceeding to complete your Bat Vehicle build.  vertigo

I put a copy of this post here because this makes for an excellent
overview resource of all the Bat Vehicles and would be very useful for
anyone looking to build a Bat Vehicle, and especially some of the more
unique Bat Vehicles. The benefits from a 3D rendition die cast vehicle
and the 12-page magazine may be the only information for some of the
more unique Bat Vehicles.

THE DEFINITIVE BATMAN VEHICLE COLLECTION
The Batman Automobilia Collection from Eaglemoss gives collectors the
most definitive collection of Batman's vehicles ever assembled. More
than 75 amazing die-cast Batman vehicles reproduce the Batmobiles
(including the BatPod) that have been seen in comics, on television,
and in the blockbuster Batman movies since Batman's debut in 1939.
Each Batmobile comes with a unique 3-D lenticular backdrop that
creates a detailed scene of the Dark Knight and his vehicle. Perfectly
reproduced at 1:43-scale, these die-case vehicles have additional
metal castings for extra detail, including gadgets. Every vehicle also
comes with an informative 12-page magazine that looks at the history
of the vehicle - and Batman himself.

I put a copy of this post here because zinc casting can easily be used
to make Bat Vehicle parts by replica builders. Zinc melts at 787.2
degrees Fahrenheit (419.5 degrees Celsius) and is malleable at 212-302
degrees Fahrenheit (100-150 degrees Celsius). Zinc can be cast in many
types of molds and that includes high-temp silicone. For the best
castings use SHZ ZINC 99.995% pure. Zinc casting kits are sold online,
as are books on how to make molds, and casting metal.

Ever wonder why most Hot Wheels cars, Action Figure chess pieces, war
game 3” soldiers, decorative keyrings, costume jewelry, and many other
figurines and toys are made from die cast zinc instead of plastic?

Zinc Alloy Die-casting benefits over Plastic Injection Molding
◾Longevity-some zinc/zinc alloy statues are over a thousand
years old. There are toy soldier sets still around from the 1600s.
◾Better precision
◾Smaller draft angles
◾Smaller and longer cored holes
◾Thinner wall sections possible
◾Superior tensile strength and elongation
◾Far superior impact strength
◾Better machinability
◾Better formability
◾Lower casting costs
◾More finishing options
◾Vastly superior stiffness
◾More consistent properties
◾Better precision
◾Much lower process costs for thicker section components

A wide range of polymers and polymer alloys are available and each of
these has a range of properties dependent on such as factors as the
degree of polymerization and type and quantity of fillers and
pigments. Compared to metals therefore, the properties of plastics are
much more dependent on their source.

Plastic injection molding is the most commonly used production process
for complex shapes that will only be subjected to very low stresses in
service. The main problem with subjecting plastic moldings to more
elevated stresses is their relatively low elastic modulus. Even glass
fiber filled plastic injection moldings have much lower elastic moduli
than metal die-castings. Hence, for parts demanding even moderate
rigidity, plastic moldings must inevitably be much thicker than metal
parts. Increasing the wall section of a plastic injection molding not
only increases the material content and its attendant cost but also it
dramatically increases the time required to mold the part. Process
costs increase in line with cycle time, hence plastic moldings become
increasingly uncompetitive as rigidity requirements increase.

I put a copy of this post here because of zinc casting's potential usefulness in making Bat Vehicle parts.
Building materials selection will most likely play an important part is planning and building decisions.
SO, Why is aluminum not used instead of zinc for making die cast toy
cars, such as Hot Wheels, figurines, 3' war game toy soldiers, key
rigs, and high end Batman related sculptures, such as high end
Batarang display pieces.

Advantages of Zinc Casting over Aluminum Die Casting

If you’re considering aluminum die casting, there are several reasons
why Zinc die casting could be a better option for you.

10 x’s greater tool life
A Zinc die’s tooling life can be more than 10 times longer than that
of an aluminum die! Lower casting temperatures for zinc are easier on
tools because they create minimal thermal shock and prolong die
casting tool life. With dies costing upwards of $50,000 each, having a
long lasting tool can represent a significant cost savings.

Low melting point = cost savings
Zinc melts at 787.2°F whereas Aluminum melts at 1,221°F. This gives
Zinc an advantage because casting can use a process called “Hot
Chamber” casting which is quicker as well as being less costly than
“Cold Chamber” methods.

Faster cycle times = better pricing
Using the Hot Chamber process also gives Zinc a major advantage over
Aluminum because the hot chamber process goes so much quicker than
Cold Chamber. In cold chamber, Aluminum needs to be manually poured
into the die either by hand or using a robot. Using hot chamber
casting, the molten liquid zinc is shot into the die using a highly
pressurized “plunger” which systematically shoots the zinc through the
die.

Thinner wall stock
ZAMAK alloys have exceptional casting fluidity. It’s possible to cast
walls in ZAMAK as thin as .25 inches. Thinner, stronger walls results
in smaller and lighter products with lower costs.

Less machining required for tight tolerances
Zinc die casting has tighter tolerances than Aluminum or plastic die
casting, which often eliminates the need for additional machining.
When no additional machining is needed, it’s called “Zero Machining”
manufacturing. This is one of the major advantages of Zinc die
casting.

Superior for decorative finishing
ZAMAK alloys have a better surface for finishing because Zinc comes
out of casting with a smoother skin. Because Aluminum has to be so
much hotter than Zinc, the thermal shock from being put in a die
produces a part with a surface that can be more pitted. Chrome finish
amplifies every defect in a part, which makes Zinc much easier to
finish compared to Aluminum. Zinc die casts can be easily polished,
plated, painted, chromated or anodized.

Tough durability
Zinc alloys are some of the strongest and toughest materials for die
casting. Neither plastic, gray cast iron, or Aluminum withstand
impacts as well as Zinc alloys do.

Sometimes aluminum casting is the best choice but not usually for the
home caster looking to make a few pieces. Usually the home or small
shop caster is better off machining aluminum from solid stock for a
few pieces and many shops do large production machining with CNC mills
and lathes.

Posted a copy of this post here because of the possible relevancy to
DOJ Batmobile building.

Hey sly,

I also, received my DOJ Batarang from Quantum Mechanix today.

This is the third best manufactured 1:1 replica Batarang that I’ve
ever seen. A quality piece; outstanding in every way. The Ice Batarang
from ICONS is still the best of them all but not by much over this
one. What is hard to believe most about this DOJ Batarang is that it
only cost 50.00. Given the extreme quality and perfect manufacturing
execution, a 200.00 price tag would not at all seem unreasonable.

Could also be added to the DOJ Batmobile as a steering wheel center,
tire hub centers, dash board inlay, exterior inlay below access
handles, etc., etc,…………………………

PS: The reason this Batarang has a heft to its feel is because zinc
weighs 90.8% of steel. So, this Batarang weighs 9.2 % less than the
same Batarang made in steel. The Batarangs used in filming the actual
movie were made of aluminum. So this zinc Batarang weighs 2.65 times
more than those used in the actual filming.

The relevant weights of metals per cubic foot in pounds.

Steel: 490     Zinc: 445.3    Aluminum:   168

Thought about what you said about buying a couple more.

Figure that’s a good idea just in case resellers may make a run on
these and jack the prices up during the delay that it would take the
manufacturer to catch up demand. So, I just bought two more, just in
case.
