I placed a copy of this post here for the benefit of anyone that might
be able to use this information in planning and/or building a Bat
Vehicle.

The GM 14 bolt axle drum to disk brake conversion is quite easy to perform.
Used a small screwdriver to lift out groove retention ring.
Used a needle nose pliers to pull out the key from the key way.
Used a 6 point spanner to remove lock ring.
Then used my hands to slide the drum and axle hub off as a unit.
Note: The wheel hub lug bolts are pressed in through the drum and then the hub.

Pulled the drum brake mechanics from the drum brake axle plates..

Kind of seemed like a waste. When the axle had been reconditioned they had put in all new and reconditioned brake parts. The brake shoes had never pressed against the inside of the drum.

I could have used a press to push out the pressed in lug nut bolts but I tapped them out with a piece of 2 X 4.
And that separated the brake drums from the axle hubs.
And that is how simple it is to remove the drum brakes from a GM 14 bolt axle.
Leaving it ready to begin the disk brake installation. vertigo

“Hi Vertigo its actually just a large co2 fire extinguisher. I
extended the hose from the extinguisher which sits beside me in car. I
bought a cheap set of recovery flashing strobes and wired them into
the centre of afterburner. I simply switch on strobes then squeeze
handle of extinguisher. Still looks decent at day time as stobes are
very bright.”

reference material:
In Hollywood TV/Film and music/dramatic stage shows CRYO LED CO2 JETs
are used quite frequently. I have attached photo images of the
“INDUSTRY STANDARD” for this special effect. Note: Look closely at the image of the CRYO LED CO2 JET. Note the LED arrays located at the base of the nozzle.

In the world of special effects the Industry Standard refers to: A
technical standard used in technical contexts. Most special effects
companies have a go to reference library. So, if a director said I
need a cold flame jet effect they would usually start by referencing
the relevant Industry Standard(s).   vertigo

hey sly,

Very impressive and wicked Bat Signal.

I especially like the use of interlocking multiple structural miters
to increase the strength of the signal support structure.

This method works just as well when welding square and rectangular
steel tubing. This is a great example of a building technique that
could find use by many planning to and/or actually building a Bat
Vehicle.  Vertigo

Pictorial Blue Prints
Here is an interesting photo image comparison of the Jada, Moebius, and Hot Wheels Elite B v S DOJ Batmobiles.
The Jada is 1:25 scale.
The Moebius is 1:25 scale.
The Hot Wheels Elite is 1:18

If you compare the Jada against the Hot Wheels, the scale differences are pretty obvious.

If you compare the Jade against the Moebius it looks like the Moebius might be closer to 1:18 than 1:25 scale.

If you compare the Moebius against the Hot Wheels they look a lot closer in actual scale than the 1:25 / 1:18 relationship would indicate. vertigo

planning to and/or building a Bat Vehicle.

Converting the drug brake system on a GM 14 Bolt axle to use disk brakes.

Step 4  Thread Clean Up
Most used axles purchased on line or in junk yards will have damage to
the lug nut axle hub insert bolt threads. Most of the time, the
damaged threads (mostly dented threads) can be touched up with a die.

I used a 9/16 x 18 die to clean up the bolt threads on my Tumbler’s GM
14 Bolt axle. It took a little less than 1-1/2 hours to run all 16
bolts through the die.  Cost of die 10.oo. If I had bought new lug nut
axle hub insert bolts they would have cost me 96.oo + 12.oo shipping
108.oo total cost.
108.oo – 10.oo die = 98.oo saved
Basically, I saved/earned 1.oo per minute by cleaning up the threads
on the old bolts.

Have completed approximately 70% of welding on three of the dually steel wheels and 90% of the welding on the fourth. Did a trial fit up mounting today. vertigo

Here is something that you might find invaluable when using scale
models to build Bat Vehicles. Will save you vast time and headaches
from making scaling calculation errors.

Go to Wikipedia

Search: LIST OF SCALE MODEL SIZES

Here you will find virtually every scaling relationship and common
uses, related to each scale and their reference by: RATIO, INCHES per
foot, and MILLIMETERS.

Scroll down to the end of this list and under the ADDITIONAL RESOURCE
section and you will find a click on link to a SCALE CONVERSION
CALCULATOR.

Under the SCALE CONVERSION CALCULATOR you will find three, very easy
to use, plug in the variables, conversion calculators.

“Good job vertigo another box ticked.”

Not quite. The box is only half ticked.
Only have the two inside rear dually wheels and tires completed and
ready for mounting on axle.

War Machine
“I know it takes more work than most realize to do some of the things
needed and often people always see things as slow progress or not much
happening but in reality the amount of work that is done behind the
scenes is just crazy...”
How very true.  vertigo

Hope to put in enough hours to finish the remaining two outside dually
rear Tumbler wheels this weekend. Right now, these two wheels are
about 75% completed.

Still need to:
Finish structural welding on wheels.
Fabricate and weld in outer dish plates.
Fabricate and weld in mounting brackets for bead lock rings.
Fabricate outer simulated bead lock rings and other decorative pieces.
Drill and fit simulated bead lock rings and decorative pieces to
welded on mounting brackets.
Do finishing work:
Deburring, grinding and wire brushing.
Remove old paint and rust.
Final washing with acetone.
Coat with two layers of primer
Apply two coats of finish paint
Mount the tires on the wheels

MOUNT THE FOUR FINISHED TIRES/WHEELS ON MY TUMBLERS REAR AXLE!!!

Given my wheel building experience, so far, with fabricating the rear
steel wheels, I can see why one high end custom wheel maker wanted
10,000.00 plus shipping to build the Tumbler’s four rear dually wheels
to specifications that are very, very, similar to mine. (Includes the 4 Sam-43 Super Swamper tires."

There are many wheel builders listed online. Most claim their wheels
are not for highway use and are for off-road and agricultural use
only. The ones that say they build wheels for highway use are much
more expensive. (Lots of liability building wheel for high speed
highway use.)
