Ive been reading builders posts on cars they have used and my question is is there any difference in a 1994 and 95 caprice? Or a preference? I am starting my search tomorrow for a donor car and was looking for advice.
Thanks, James

From a chassis/suspension point of view the different years are the same. What you get between the years 91-96 are engine and drivetrain changes.
LT1 packages, rear-end, OBDI vs OBDII, transmission differences etc.
I believe 96 is where it went to ODBII and I believe the 91 had throttle body fuel injection instead of direct port.

Ah ok, ill keep that in mind. Not sure how difficult it will be to find a donor with a LT1. As far as the other options ill have to do some more reading and see which is a better.
Thanks for the help/info. JAMES

Brsewane is right...There are very few differences between these cars throughout the production years. The 91 through 96 will all work well, even the wagon is based on the standard Caprice Chassis. The 96 Impala SS is the same car with a LT1 motor and suspension and tranny up grades. Lots of the Caprice Classics have the LT1 motor, a large majority were LEO vehicles so there a large supply of these vehicles to choose from. If you do choose to use the LT1 or fuel injected motors over the carbureted motors is that you will need to buy an aftermarket engine harness to run the electronics and computer as I did. Some Impalas came with an air suspension package that would work well with the build. Happy Hunting…
