How to Cut and Shape Foam without a CNC Foam Router or other expensive Professional Tools
Part Eight-C
Building a heavy duty 36" X 48" Flat Top Hot Wire Foam Cutting Table for 3oo.oo or less.
HOT WIRE BOOM ARM:
Found enough scrap metal two-inch square steel tubing and 2 x 1/4 inch wide flat to make the boom arm for my hot wire foam cutting table. Drilled holes for bolts that will hold ceramic insulators that will isolate the electrified
ni-chrome wire from the metal boom arm. These two insulators will be used for the 90- and 45-degree angle wire cutting positions. If I need some additional wire cutting angles, I can drill additional insulator holes.
I made my boom arm from metal, but I could also have made it out of wood, etc. Attached are photo-images of my boom arm in metal and a couple more that were built from wood. vertigo
