That wheel you have there is definitely a good option too... I have few saved off that will fit within the f1 wheel we got, and that is on my list.
I don't have a blog yet, but I do have a ton of stuff spec'd out and acquiring parts/resources, and guess I should at least make my own thread here too.

hey THEMAN,
I was thinking the same thing, that you have a lot offer. I would really like to see you start your own build log. You sound really motivated by this build. You obviously have some keen abilities. Find all that you did about the steering wheel and other parts is quite amazing. It would be great to have a third build log going on this bat vehicle. Planning and prepping for a build is a major part of a build. You sound like you could contribute a lot of major and information even before you begin the actual physical build.

Got the Thrustmaster steering wheel in today. This thing is actually pretty sturdy. Feels like it has metal reinforcement in it. I will have to take it apart to find out. Now, need to start looking for the knobs and switches like the ones on the movie car.

hey Sly,
Spent a couple of hours studying and measuring the Thrust and photo images of the movie correct steering wheels.
Currently plan to fill Thrustmaster steering wheel with fiberglass, epoxy resin, reinforced with steel.
What brand of fast drying epoxy do you use and where do you buy it?
Characteristics of epoxy resin.
What do you compare its viscosity and flow to: water, pancake syrup, etc?
How long before it begins to thicken and set? vertigo

The epoxy resin I used: http://www.uscomposites.com/epoxy.html
It flows very freely just like regular resin. Now, epoxy is necessary over foam because regular polyester resin will melt the foam. But with this application I would think just regular resin would work fine. (Test it on an inconspicuous spot first.) Epoxy is more expensive and even the fast curing stuff will take several hours where polyester you're probably talking about 20 minutes.
Also, be aware that any resin will only form a weak bond to plastic, so any parts that can be encased in the resin will help it be more solid. Does that make sense?

Nasty set back today.
I was preparing to start milling parts for the side boxes and had my CNC machine turned on when it's power cord got tangled up with a dust separator I was moving and it yanked out the power cord. No problem right? Just plug it back in. When I did the CNC machine wouldn't run right. Z axis goes up when it's suppose to and goes up when it's suppose to go down. The slave axis doesn't respond at all. The X and Y work fine but since I have Y as one side of the long axis and the slave as the other side of the long axis that won't work.
Spent all day trying to fix settings in the hope it is a computer setting problem. Switched wires around to check the motors. Motors are all fine. So now I'm at the fear that two of the circuits in the expensive electronics package must have been damaged. I have contacted the manufacturer for advice. Best case there is a fuse somewhere I can replace. 2nd best is the company will let me send it in for repairs. 3rd best is the two effected circuits need to be replaced, probably about $500 to $600 dollars. Worst case, I have to buy a whole new unit, about 1600.

Good news! Talked to the CNC Router Parts guy today on the phone. He thought maybe the circuit board got pulled loose when the plug got pulled out. So I went out and pushed the circuit board back in a little and now it works again. Now that's costumer service! Now ready to get going on the side boxes.
